HomeSmart History
On January 14, 2000 HomeSmart Real Estate announced its grand opening to the Phoenix Metropolitan Area with only two real estate agents. A reputation for advanced technologies soon followed. As a result, HomeSmart Real Estate rapidly developed into one of the nation’s fastest growing Real Estate Brokerages. With a commitment to its realtors and Clients, HomeSmart has now grown to over 4,000 real estate agents, with offices throughout Arizona and Southern California. It is the largest real estate brokerage in the Southwest and ranked among the top 10 largest real estate brokerages in the nation.
HomeSmart was founded by its’ President and CEO, Matt Widdows. It has always been privately held by Matt and his wife Colleen, and remains a family business to this day. Much of HomeSmart’s success can be attributed to the combined real estate and technology background of its’ founder. In the early 1990′s Matt created a technology company that focused primarily on accounts receivable systems for the medical industry. During that time Matt was licensed as a real estate agent and after selling that company in 1994, he focused his efforts full time in the real estate industry.
